PATNA: Amid a section of the BJP leaders vehemently opposing his premature release from jail and the entire matter now reaching the Supreme Court, former MP Anand Mohan has announced that he will hold a mega rally in Patna in November this year as a “show of strength”. According to him, at least 10 lakh people will attend the rally.

Mohan was convicted for life in the 1994 murder of the then Gopalganj DM G Krishnaiah, a young IAS officer who belonged to a Dalit community in Andhra Pradesh (now in Telangana). Mohan walked out of jail last month after the state government tweaked the jail manual.“I am visiting the areas to invite them (his supporters) for the rally that I will be holding in Patna in November this year. It will be a mega rally to be attended by 10 lakh people,” Mohan told reporters in Rohtas on Tuesday.

Expressing concern over lack of unity in the Rajput community to which he belongs, Mohan had said in Bikramganj on Monday that if a close kin of Babu Kuer Singh, hero of 1857 rebellion in Bihar, is killed, or “Anand Mohan is victimized after being released from jail”, it is only because of the fact that the community is now politically dead.He also cautioned his community against the “Hindutva agenda of certain forces”, saying efforts were on to impose some other agenda in the name of Hindutva.

Questioning the Hindutva agenda, Mohan told the audience how a Muslim had supported Maharana Pratap during the hard times. “Hakim Khan Sur was a general in Rana Pratap Army,” he said.“Again, the Yadavs, Paswans and Muslims supported Veer Kuer Singh in the 1857 revolt,” he said.
