<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">HAJIPUR: Yet another dowry torture case has come to light with one Mamata Kumari, daughter of a Jharkhand-based inspector-rank officer of special branch Sagar Das, lodging an FIR against her in-laws, including husband, in the police station here.<br /><br />Mamata, an MBBS, is pursuing MS from Patna Medical College while her husband is an engineer with the state electricity department.<br /><br />Das, a resident of Hajipur, told TNN that his daughter was married on June 26, 2002.
However, her in-laws started torturing her soon after marriage, demanding money to buy a Maruti car. "I remained silent hoping things will settle with time. But when I could not tolerate it any more, I decided to lodge an FIR against them," Mamata said.<br /><br />Mamata said that on July 4, 2002, her husband asked her to demand Rs 4 lakh from her parents to which she refused. Reacting to her refusal, she said that he snatched her <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">mangalsutra</span> and assaulted her. "On July 10, 2002, he washed the vermilion off my head and poured hot tea on my body," Mamata alleged, adding an unsuccessful attempt was also made to electrocute her.<br /></div> </div>
