What 18% Muslims got, AIMIM criticises INDIA bloc's CM candidate choice in Bihar
Patna: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of Asaduddin Owaisi has criticised the INDIA bloc’s decision to project RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav as the CM face and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) patron Mukesh Sahani as the deputy CM candidate of the alliance, terming it a “hypocrisy”.
“If the one with 2% becomes the deputy CM, and the one with 13% becomes the CM, will the one with 18% lay carpet for them,” asked Uttar Pradesh AIMIM president Shaukat Ali on Thursday.
The Muslim population in Bihar is approximately 17.7% and they constitute 40% of the population in at least 11 assembly constituencies. Muslim voters play a decisive role in about 47 assembly seats.
“When we say something, they’ll say, Abdul, shut up, or the BJP will come,” Shaukat commented in his social media post, mentioning how Muslims are being intimidated.
The AIMIM national spokesperson Waris Pathan echoed Ali: “The 2% Sahani community got the deputy CM offer, but what did the 18% Muslims get? Look at how their hypocrisy is exposed. They talk of ‘Jiski jitni sankhya bhari, uski utni hissedari’. Is the Muslim community there only to vote for them? How will the community move forward till they are brought into the mainstream? We are fighting in Bihar to finish the rampant corruption. The public should watch the injustice being done in the state,” Pathan said.
