PATNA: LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan said the proposed move of the Nitish Kumar government to increase the power tariff in the state by 50% will put a huge burden on the power consumers of all categories.

Talking to media at the party's office at Patna, Chirag said the prevailing power tariff in Bihar is in the range of Rs6.05 to Rs 7.70, which is higher than other states.

He cited the range of power tariff in UP, Odisha, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. If the Nitish government took any such decision, the LJP (RV) would launch an agitation against increase in power tariff.

Earlier, at the meet of the party's functionaries, a decision was taken to infuse youth and energy in the party with the motto to have at least 25 youth members at every booth before 2024.
