Patna: Siwan police shot and injured one
Pramod Yadav, who was wanted in several criminal cases and had been evading arrest for a long time, at Indauli village in Maharajganj area of the district in the early hours of Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided his hideout in Indauli village, where he allegedly opened fire, leading the former to retaliate. He was rushed to a hospital with bullet injuries to his leg. The police recovered a country-made pistol, two empty cartridges and two live bullets.
Maharajganj subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Rakesh Kumar Ranjan said at least six cases are registered against Yadav across the district. "Yadav was earlier arrested at the district's Katwar Indauli border, after which he admitted to hiding illegal weapons in hay near his home. Subsequently, the police team took him to his village, where he fired at the personnel with a weapon hidden in the hay. In response, the police shot him in leg," said the SDPO, adding he is currently receiving treatment at the sadar hospital under police custody.
