Villagers ill treat MP
GAYA: Villagers of Khushdihra under the Khizarasarai police station area of the district, on Sunday ill treated local MP Arun Kumar. Kumar went to the village to console the family members of Bharat Sharma, the farmer whose mysterious death triggered controversy, as the villagers called it distress engineered suicide, whereas district officials were sceptical, more so, on account of the hurried cremation of Sharma's body without conducting the mandatory post mortem warranted in such situations.
Moreover allegations that Sharma sold 50 quintals of paddy to the govt agencies but did not receive payment was also not substantiated as no evidence of paddy sale was available.
As Jahanabad MP Arun Kumar (part of the Khizarsarai block area of Gaya district falls in the Jahanabad Parliamentary constituency) and Kumar represents Jahanabad as RLSP candidate, reached the village, agitated villagers accused the MP of being insensitive to their plight and leaving them to fend for themselves in the hour of crisis. A couple of villagers, as per reports menacingly moved towards the MP requiring the intervention of his security guard who, while shielding the MP allegedly thrashed some villagers thereby fuelling the anger of the villagers.
An apparently upset MP retreated to the Khizarsarai block head quarters where he held a hastily organised press meet with the representatives of the vernacular press and accused rival politician and predecessor MP Jagdish Sharma of engineering the incident to belittle the MP.
Soon after Arun's departure, former MP Jagdish Sharma reached the village where he was hailed as the saviour of the villagers. When contacted a Kumar aide told TOI that the MP had gone somewhere nearby leaving behind his mobile phone. The aide promised to get back once the MP was available.
