Patna: A two-week specialised training programme on ‘electrical safety of Vande Bharat trainsets’ and high-voltage systems commenced at the IIT-Patna on Monday. The programme is being organised by the Foundation for Innovators in Science and Technology (FIST), IIT-Patna, in collaboration with the Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE)-Jamalpur.
The training programme, inaugurated by IRIMEE director general Animesh Kumar Sinha and IIT-P director Prog T N Singh, is being attended by 25
Indian Railways officials representing various railway zones across the country.
According to Sinha, the programme focused on modern trainsets such as Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat (Rapid Rail), which are equipped with advanced propulsion and auxiliary systems, computerised braking systems and automatic door mechanisms. “The participants will receive comprehensive exposure to high-voltage electrical systems, safety standards and best practices related to their operation and maintenance,” he said.
“The initiative aims to strengthen the safe, reliable and efficient operation of modern trainsets, reaffirming Indian Railways’ commitment to technological excellence, operational efficiency and passenger safety as well,” the director general said.
