Universities, colleges of Patna to reopen today after monthlong vacation
The universities have already announced on their websites the schedules of admissions to their different courses in the current academic session, but still students as well as their guardians can be seen visiting different institutions and making enquiries about the details of admission process and the required amount of fees.
In Patna University (PU) colleges, admission to four-year degree courses under regular streams and in the three-year degree courses under self-financing streams in arts, science and commerce faculties has almost been completed in three rounds in most colleges. Now, the seats which still have remained vacant will be filled through spot round of admissions commencing Tuesday.
PU dean of students’ welfare (DSW) Anil Kumar said the merit list of students selected for admission in the spot round will be published on Monday. Admissions in different colleges will be held from 10 am to 4 pm on July 2, 4 and 5, he said.
As many as 1,210 sanctioned seats, including 318 in B N College, 293 in Magadh Mahila College, 207 in Patna College, 142 in Patna Science College and 250 in Vanijya Mahavidyalay, are still vacant in regular four-year degree courses. Besides, 246 seats are vacant in different colleges under self-financing streams, said the dean.
PU has already initiated the process of admission of students to its post-graduation courses in the faculties of arts, science, commerce, education and law.
Admissions to traditional courses in most colleges sluggish this year
Despite sluggish admissions, colleges witness a shift towards innovative courses due to the National Education Policy. Students navigate changing major preferences and college choices, impacting traditional Arts and Commerce enrollments. Science courses experience a significant drop in cut-offs, prompting colleges to adapt with immediate admissions and course adjustments.
142 seats remain vacant at Patna Science College
Patna Science College faces reputation decline due to staffing and funding issues, affecting admissions and academic performance. Challenges include construction projects impacting the physical outfit and a shortage of staff compared to sanctioned posts.
PU kicks off admission process for UG courses
Prospective students need to submit admission forms by July 2 at Panjab University. The objection deadline for the merit list is July 11, with classes beginning on July 18. The admission process involves multiple stages, including document verification and final approval, leading up to the start of classes.
