Two siblings drown in Aurangabad water-filled pit
Patna: Two minor siblings drowned in a water-filled pit at Tola Varshi Veer village under Madanpur police station area in Aurangabad district. Their bodies were found floating in water on Wednesday morning. The deceased were identified as Vaishnavi Kumari (4) and her brother Ranjan Kumar (2), children of Vikki Singh, a native of Nalanda district. Vikki has been living at his in-laws’ house in the village for the past several years.
According to police, the children went missing around 3pm on Tuesday. Despite a search by family members, no trace was found. On Wednesday morning, villagers informed the family that the children were last seen playing towards the northern side of the village. A renewed search led to a nearby pit, where both bodies were found floating in water.
Madanpur SHO Rajesh Kumar said that upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to Aurangabad sadar hospital for post-mortem. “The victims’ father works as an ice cream seller. Local residents have demanded that such hazardous pits be filled to prevent similar incidents, and the matter has been taken up with the officials concerned,” he said.
