Biharsharif: At least two persons sustained bullet injuries in a gunfight between two rival groups over

village under Deepnagar police station in Nalanda district on Saturday.

The injured persons - Santosh Yadav and Deep Lal Yadav - were rushed to Biharsharif sadar hospital from where the doctors referred them to Patna Medical College and Hospital. The condition of the two is stated to be critical.

Police sources said after they were prevented from mining sand, one Rajesh Mahto and his associates fired several rounds, critically injuring Santosh and Deep Lal.

Nalanda SP Kumar Ashish said the situation at the village was tense but under control. He said both the groups have lodged FIRs against each other and raids were on to arrest the attackers. The incident occurred on a day when CM Nitish Kumar was at his Kalyanbigha village in the district to pay floral tribute to his wife on her ninth death anniversary. TNN
