In a tragic turn of events at Gaya Junction on Monday afternoon, two lives were lost when Saryu Prasad and Mohd Khalid Alam made a fateful attempt to board the moving Mahabodhi Express. In the chaos of passengers vying for limited seats, the two men fell between the train and the platform, suffering fatal injuries from the train's momentum.
Gaya: Two people were killed at Gaya Junction on Monday afternoon while attempting to board the moving Gaya–New Delhi Mahabodhi Express as it arrived at the platform 6 from the washing pit line. The deceased were identified as Saryu Prasad (66), a resident of the Dihri police station area in Jehanabad district, and Mohd Khalid Alam (27) of Barachatti in Gaya district. Due to the incident, the train departed about 30 minutes behind schedule.According to GRP Gaya, several passengers waiting on the platform, including the victims, tried to board the train in a rush to secure seats. The victims lost balance and slipped through the gap between the bogie and the platform. Hit by the moving train, both died on the spot.

Gaya Govt Railway Police station house officer Shiv Kumar Yadav said, “The incident occurred due to the rush of passengers to grab a seat. Family members of the deceased have been informed, and the bodies were sent to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.”
