Two awarded life term in Bhagalpur gang rape case

Bhagalpur: The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court special judge Anand Kumar Singh awarded life imprisonment to two on Thursday in a case related to gang rape of a minor in 2019. The judgment came nearly after two-and-a-half years of the incident.
Special public prosecutor (PP) Shanker Jaikishan Mandal, referring to the case said, “The incident occurred in October 2019 at Babbarganj locality in which four accused were arrested after a case was lodged with the Sadar women police station.Out of four, two were minors, who were sent to juvenile home, while trials of two others–Sonia Goswami and Arvind—were conducted in the POCSO court.
Referring to the case, the special PP said that four witnesses deposed before the court. “A compensation of Rs 4lakh will be given by the state government to the victim or her family,” said Mandal.
