trend at Number 2 on the micro-blogging site soon after he walked out of the Bhagalpur jail.

Some of the initial reactions of the Twitterati ranged from "#shahabuddin k achhe din aa gaye... @NitishKumar great payback...", "Bahubali is back. Part-2 of jungle raaj will be soon on floors" and "#shahabuddin out.. shame shame #nitishkumar". A Game of Thrones series follower Mayank N Mohit said, "Brace yourselves people of Siwan. Winter is coming" referring to the popular slogan warning of difficult days ahead.

Both Biharis and outsiders took to Twitter to express their emotions and flooded it with thousands of comments, mostly sarcastic ones targeted against the Mahagathbandhan government. Some of them were: "Shahabuddin bahar, sushashan jail mein", "Best of jungle raj is yet to come. RIP System. Shame on Lalu-Nitish government", "#shahabuddin Samajseva, great deeds of a great man who is chief minister of crime country. Ab hoga vikas teji se" and "Start of 'Acche Din' in Bihar: #shahabuddin out of jail after 11 years."

#shahabuddin was only second to the Paralympics gold medallist for over an hour on Twitter trends on Saturday noon.

There were more brickbats for the Bihar government. "Bihar mein bahaar hai, phir se Nitish Kumar hai, Lalu inka sardar hai, tabhi to Shahabuddin jail se baahar hai", "Bihar now has 3 CMs. Puppet CM @NitishKumar, de facto CM @laluprasadrjd, parallel CM #shahabuddin. This is what Nitish meant by 'bahar' and "No one killed Girish, Satish and Rajiv. They liked bathing with acid. #shahabuddin #RisingTerrorInBihar."

A number of people linked "saheb's" release with the total prohibition enforced in Bihar on April 5. "Only in Bihar. If you drink Bloody Mary you will be in jail. If you drink blood of thousands people like #shahabuddin you will be out of jail" and "@NitishKumar ne pehle sharab andar kari aur ab Shahabuddin bahar, Bihariyon ki to baja hi daali, marna hai to sharab mein nahi acid mein doob ke".

One person's advice was: "Shahabuddin riha ho gaya hai, ab ek hi tarika hai... uski jeb se addha-pauna kuch nikal jae bas... Nitish ji murder, firauti bardasth kar sakte hai, daru nahi." Whereas another recalled the 90s era writing, "In 1999 he killed my uncle, I was in 3rd standard then. Now going Bihar will be impossible as his village is close to ours. #shahabuddin".

In another tweet, a photo of weeping CJI Thakur was posted with the comment "40 cases lodged against #shahabuddin and HC grants him bail, so will he weep at the sorry state of Indian Judiciary." A photo-tweet of a seated Shahabuddin with six-gunmen in tow was captioned "Move away Wild West not a match to our India's Bihar. Whew!"
