Tutor accused of raping girl in Supaul district

Patna: Mother of a girl has accused a tutor of raping her 10-year-old daughter in Supaul district.

The accused allegedly locked the girl in a room and committed the heinous crime. The incident occurred on Jan 24, but it came to light after the girl’s mother filed a written complaint against the teacher at the local police station on Sunday. The accused is still on the run, and raids are being carried out to nab him, police said.


Police said the accused Akram Alam (30) used to teach the girl at his house. On Jan 24, during tuition, Akram sent the girl to a room to sweep it. Then he forcibly locked her inside the room and raped her. When the girl resisted, the accused stuffed a cloth in her mouth so that she could not scream.

According to the mother, Akram warned the girl that he would beat her up badly if she told anyone about the incident.

The incident came to light on Jan 26, when after complaining of a stomach ache, the girl was taken to a doctor. On being questioned, the girl narrated the incident to her mother. After getting information about the incident, family members and some local people tried to settle the matter at panchayat-level. On Sunday, she submitted an application at the police station.

SHO Dharmendra Kumar said, “Based on the application of the victim’s mother, an FIR was registered. Considering the seriousness of the case, further legal action is being taken, and efforts to arrest the accused has been intensified.”
