Speeding truck crushes 3 bikers in Begusarai

Begusarai: Three motorcycle-borne people were killed when a speeding truck hit them near Bagraha Dih village on NH-122 (old NH-28) under Fulwaria police station area in Begusarai on Sunday night. The driver sped away with the vehicle after the accident, police said.
The police said while Sikandar Kumar Mahto (31) died on the spot, Chandan Kumar Mahto (19) and Dilip Kumar Das (18) were admitted to a private hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. The three, natives of Bagraha Dih village, worked as plumber.
Sikandar's cousin Dipu Mahto said on Monday that his brother along with Chandan and Dilip had gone to Alapur village under Teghra block for some work.
"On their way back to Bagraha Dih village, they didn't see the truck approaching from Teghra, resulting in a collision. While Sikandar died on the spot, Chandan and Dilip were admitted to a private hospital where they succumbed to their injuries," he said.
Station house officer, Fulwaria police station, Diwakar Kumar, said the driver of the truck along the vehicle managed to escape after the accident. "Locals informed the police about the incident around 9pm. After getting the information, a police team reached the spot and admitted Chandan and Dilip to a private hospital. However, both of them succumbed to their injuries," he said, adding, "We are trying to identify the vehicle and the driver."
