GAYA: A villager seeking govt money for the construction of toilet at his home under the much publicised sanitation campaign and Khizarsarai BDO exchanged blows in the later's office on Monday morning. The BDO and other block staff subsequently overpowered the petitioner and handed him over to the local police.
As per reports reaching the district head quarters from Khizarsarai, 40 km away to the north east, the petitioner named Surendra Yadav, a resident of the Karhara village of the Khizarsarai block approached
Ritesh Kumar, Block Development Officer with a petition seeking financial help for toilet construction.
Irked by the petitioner's entry into the chamber without prior permission, the BDO scolded the petitioner and directed him to the office assistant.
A defiant petitioner insisted on the BDO himself receiving the petition as the office assistant allegedly wanted palm greasing. What started as a brawl ended in fist fight with both sides receiving minor blows.
According to the Khizarsarai SHO, the block officials handed over one person who was now under detention. The written complaint from the BDO was being awaited and follow up action will only be taken after the receipt of a formal complaint in writing, said the SHO.
District Magistrate Kumar Ravi told TOI on Monday afternoon that the BDO has informed him about some villager misbehaving with him (BDO) in the office. The BDO did not report any assault or fist fight, said the DM.
