Tiny tots of St Michael’s enthral audience at Montessori Concert

PATNA: Students of pre-primary section of

St Michael’s High School

on Saturday enthralled the audience with their scintillating performances at ‘Montessori concert – a tour around the world’ organised on the school campus.

The programme commenced with the message of peace. Through their welcome performance, the tiny tots called for peace and justice in country and society. Several events were held to add colours to the foggy evening. Dressed in bright attires, the little ones grabbed eyeballs of one and all. The school campus was decorated with props and lighting for the occasion.

The chief guest was Indian Railway Service officer Manish Sharma, who inaugurated the event along with Patna civil court judge Priya Shekhar (guest of honour) and Poonam Sharma (special guest). School Rector Fr Seraphim John S J, principal Fr Armstrong Edison S J, vice-principal Fr Prakash Anthony S J and the primary wing headmistress Vishakha Sinha welcomed the guests. A school band created a musical ambience with their performance, followed by school anthem.

Students of pre-primary performed on spectacular dance styles of Japan, Korea, India, Spain, Egypt, Arabia, Hawai and Africa. Garbed in Kung Fu attire, students displayed their fighting skills. All the students came together for a dance-drama act on the theme of the programme.

The poise of the pre-primary students could be seen in the little anchors who came one after the other introducing the programme and hosting the event very smoothly. The spectators applauded the performance throughout the event.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest appreciated the efforts of the students and the teachers who put in such a marvellous show. Fr Armstrong also appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm of the students and the teachers. He said these tiny tots are the future of the country and the school will help to nurture them and make them a responsible citizen. The vote of thanks was proposed by headmistress Vishakha Sinha. The programme concluded with singing of national anthem.

Stuti is Miss PWC: BCom third year student Stuti Shree was declared Miss Patna Women’s College at a function organised to mark College Day on Saturday. Mansi Priya of department of mass communication and Angel Anthony of department of English were declared first and second runners-up, respectively. The department of history bagged the winner’s trophy in folk song competition.

Organic farming: At least 200 students from different city schools and colleges participated in ‘Organic rice harvest festival’ organised by Tarumitra, a non-government organisation, on its campus at Digha on Saturday. The festival was inaugurated by agriculture minister Prem Kumar. The participants harvested the different varieties of rice on two acres of Tarumitra farm. Organic farmer from Darjeeling Margaret Molomoo briefed students about organic farming and practices through a presentation.
