Tight security, traffic curbs for BJP’s roadshow today
Patna: Security has been tightened across the city in view of a roadshow of BJP to welcome national working president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday. This will be the first visit of Nitin to the state capital since his appointment to the high-profile post on Dec 14.
The roadshow is set to begin from Jayprakash Narayan International Airport around midday and wind its way through prominent areas such as Aranya Bhavan, Sheikhpura More, Patel Bhavan, Punaichak, Patna high court, Vidyut Bhavan, Income Tax roundabout, BJP state office on Beerchand Patel Path, before culminating at Miller High School ground.
The programme is expected to last from about four hours from 12 noon to 4 pm, drawing a large number of party workers and supporters eager to welcome the leader.
For the roadshow, Patna police rolled out a multi-layered security arrangement, including heavy deployments along the route, barricading at key points, restricted traffic movement, enhanced patrolling, and close coordination with airport authorities and traffic police for the BJP leader’s safe arrival and movement.
To facilitate the roadshow and minimise disruptions, a comprehensive traffic plan has been prepared, which will be applicable to all vehicles except emergency services like fire brigades, ambulances, judicial-related vehicles, and those with valid passes among others. Vehicles approaching the District Transport Office (DTO) from the south to reach Patna airport would detour via Tamtam Padav and Phulwarisharif, while those from the north of DTO will have to come from Jagdeo Path.
Strict no-parking rules have come into force from Patel Golambar to the airport, and party workers receiving the leaders have been advised to use the airport’s outer parking area. Air travellers have also been requested to reach the airport at least three hours before the roadshow time.
“Commuters from Saguna Mor or Danapur heading east on Bailey Road (Nehru Path) may face congestion, particularly at Raja Bazar ROB, and they should take alternative routes to reach their destination. Vehicles coming from Saguna More or Danapur towards east on Bailey Road will be able to go towards their destination via Jagdeo Path, DTO, Tamtam Pada, Phulwarisharif towards south,” the traffic officials said.
All types of vehicles coming from Saguna Mor or Danapur towards east on Bailey Road have been asked to proceed towards their destination via Ashiana-Digha Road in the north via Digha-Kurji-Rajapur Pul and Ashok Rajpath. No parking will be permitted on Jagdeo Path.
Vehicles coming from Kankarbagh or Patna Junction have been asked to reach their destinations via GPO ROB, R-Block ROB, Gardanibagh ROB, and Anisabad Golambar. Those from Dak Bungalow could head north via Budh Marg, Police Line Teeraha, Rajapur Pul, and Ashok Rajpath, or south via Kotwali T-Point, GPO ROB, R-Block ROB, Gardanibagh ROB, and Anisabad Golambar.
Movement of vehicles will be completely prohibited on both sides of Beerchand Patel Path from R-Block Golambar (below and over the ROB) to I-T Golambar.
Traffic police have designated parking for small vehicles of workers/common people participating in the roadshow, from GPO Golambar to R-Block. Parking space of heavy vehicles/buses has been allotted on one flank of the single lane on Atal Path.
Authorities appealed to the public to avoid the main route during these hours, opt for public transport where possible, plan journeys ahead, and cooperate with traffic personnel on duty.
