PATNA: Three persons died and three others were severely injured while returning from a wedding procession under Singhia police station area in Samastipur district Saturday night.
According to sources, an SUV returning from a wedding procession hit an overturned truck on Singhia Baheri Path, killing two persons on the spot. The third died at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). Three of the injured were in critical condition.
The deceased have been identified as SUV driver Shyam Kumar Yadav (25) of Baheri Ujaina, Mohammad Sonu (16) and Nabi Ahmed (14) of Darbhanga. The bodies of Shyam and Sonu were sent for postmortem at Samastipur Sadar Hospital. The autopsy of the third was conducted at DMCH.
Singhia SHO Krishnakant Mandal said two trucks had met with an accident at Marwada Chowk three days ago. “One truck was removed, but the other was left on the roadside. The SUV driver could not see the overturned truck due to high speed and darkness, which led to the accident. An FIR has been registered in this connection,” he added.
