Nitish Kumar is expected to inaugurate Lord Mahavir's 2543rd Nirvana Mahotsav at Pawapuri on Tuesday.
This is for the first time that the three-day Nirvana Mahotsav is being organized in association with state government. It is expected to draw huge footfall as apart from cultural programmes, a large number of stalls by different agencies have been put up on the Mahotsav venue on the pattern of Rajgir Mahotsav.
Nalanda district magistrate Thiyagrajan SM, who personally monitored the month-long preparations for the proposed state-sponsored three-day Mahotsav said, “Lord Mahavir's 2543rd Nirvana Mahotsav is being celebrated on a largescale this year and preparations for the festival are completed.”
Appreciating the CM’s support in giving the Mahotsav a true international colour, president of the Jain Sangh, Pradip Jain, demanded the CM to declare Pawapuri, also known as Apapuri, as a holy city and and ensure ban on sale and consumption of meat.
Bollywood singer Altaf Raja and other renowned artists from across the country are expected to perform at the Nirvana Mahotsav, said sources
