Thai Buddhist monk visits cancer centre, donates ICU beds
Patna: Somdet Phra Thirayanamuni, abbot of Wat Debsirindrawas and a distinguished member of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, visited the Buddha Cancer Medical Centre in Patna along with a delegation of 20 disciples from Thailand on Tuesday.
During the visit, the senior Buddhist monk expressed appreciation for the cancer care being provided to underprivileged patients from Bihar and Jharkhand. He praised the institution for its commitment to delivering quality oncology treatment to economically weaker sections of society.
As part of his contribution, Thirayanamuni donated five modern ICU beds to strengthen the centre’s critical care services. He also laid the foundation stone for a new building at the Buddha Cancer Centre through traditional Buddhist chanting rituals, marking an important step in the institution’s future expansion.

Dr Arvind Kumar, founder director and chief medical oncologist of Buddha Cancer Centre Pvt Ltd, Patna, was present during the visit along with his team. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kumar said, “Visits by global spiritual leaders not only uplift the morale of our medical team but also provide immense emotional support to cancer patients and their caregivers.”
