PATNA: Environment, forest and climate change minister Tej Pratap Yadav on Saturday said he would embark on a cycle yatra from Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) in West Champaran district to Kaimur wildlife sanctuary, which is proposed to be declared as second tiger reserve in Bihar, to spread awareness about wildlife.

“Plans are afoot to establish a 1500 square kilometers tiger reserve at Kaimur and a zoo at Araria,” said Bandana Preyashi, secretary of environment, forest and climate change department.

Tej Pratap also took out Baghira, a black panther, for public view at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, commonly known as Patna Zoo, on the occasion of International Tiger Day on Saturday. The panther has been brought from Assam state zoo-cum-botanical garden.

As a part of tiger week of the Patna zoo’s 50th anniversary, the forest minister also inaugurated a 3D theatre, wherein the zookeepers and doctors were felicitated for their dedication in caring the animals. The minister emphasized on eco-friendly practices, such as cycling.
