SAHARSA: An 18-year-old boy, Ratan Kumar, was abducted by unidentified criminals on Friday. The abductors have reportedly demanded a huge amount of Rs 50 lakh as ransom from the boy's father, Gopi Pundit, who is a clerk in the main branch of State Bank of India (SBI) here.
According to informed sources, Ratan who has passed the ISc examination this year, had left his Gautam Nagar residence after getting a phone call on Friday morning.

At around 12 o'clock, another phone call about the kidnapping of the college boy was received.
Saharsa SP Kumar Singh, while confirming the incident, told newsman that the police were investigating the case and raids were being conducted to recover the boy. The SP further added that after the phone call confirming the abduction, the boy was seen by a rickshawpuller.
A case has been lodged in the Saharsa Town police station in this regard.
