Tragically, they were discovered at the boy's home, having taken their own lives using a dupatta, while their families were away.

Patna: A 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide using the same dupatta in Saran district’s Sahajitpur police station area late Wednesday night. The incident occurred in Moti Chhapra village. Both were students of the same school and lived in nearby houses. Families said they were unaware of the relationship. Their bodies were handed over after post-mortem examinations by a medical board of three doctors on Thursday. Investigation is ongoing.Sahajitpur SHO Suraj Kumar Sharma said, “The girl lived with her elderly grandparents. Her father works in Mumbai, while her mother was attending a wedding in Delhi. The boy’s mother died some years ago, and his father and brother had gone to a wedding on Wednesday evening. Prima facie, the incident appears to be a suicide. Both minors hanged themselves in the boy’s home.”Victim Sanis Mahto’s father, Ganpat Mahto, said, “We were working in the field all day and attended an event in the evening. When we returned, neighbours informed us of the incident.”The SHO added, “Clear reasons will emerge only after investigation. There is currently an atmosphere of mourning and fear. Police are questioning both families, and the forensic team has examined the scene thoroughly.”
