Tech colleges in city gear up for annual fests

Patna: It's fun time for collegians in the city as premier tech cradles are back with their annual college fests in the coming days, to rain trophies and prize money on the participants. Indian Institute of Technology, Patna (IITP), National Institute of Technology, Patna (NITP) and Birla Institute of Technology Patna (BITP) are busy making last-minute preparations to host the gala events on their campuses.
IITP is set to host the seventh edition of 'Anwesha, its annual fiesta, on its permanent campus at Bihta for the first time. Scheduled from January 22 to 24, the fest will include cultural, technical, management, literary and eco events such as singing and dancing contests, band shows, racing, quiz, ad making, aqua soccer, painting, clay modelling, debate and photography, etc.
The high points of the fest, with the motto, 'Viva la Vida' or Live your life, are the coveted Mr and Miss Anwesha titles and a performance by Hindi rock band 'Euphoria' of Palash Sen fame. Registration for most of the events is underway on its website 2016.anwesha.info or on Facebook page 'Anwesha, IIT Patna'.
As most of these fests invite participation from students from other colleges, the fests turn into gala intercollege events for making new friends and getting to know ones strong and weak points during competitions. A number of outstation students have also shown interest in the city fests in the last few years.
Interestingly, Patna students also take part in the fests of technical education institutions of other cities and bring home lots of trophies and prize money.
Students of NITP are also geared up to host their annual techno-cultural fests, 'Melange' and 'Corona', from January 22 to 27.
The 14 clubs of the college such as 'Abhinay', 'Avlokan', 'Byte world', 'Concreate', 'Kalakriti', 'Ohm', 'Raaga', 'Pratibimb' and 'Robotics' will organize more than 50 events for participants from the college and outside. Intercollege parliamentary debate, solo and duet songs and dance performances, mimicry and stand-up comedy, aptitude test and treasure hunts will be highlights of the fest.
A number of smaller workshops are also organized in the run-up to the event and the fest organization helps students polish their managerial skills. Birla Institute of Technology, Patna (BITP), kicked off the annual techno-management fest 'Technika 2016' with a training programme on 'network management and web development with cloud computing' on January 5. The schedule of the main event, which will include 'Fashionista' 'Voila' and several fun events, has not been announced yet.
The final year students of other city colleges such as Patna Women's College are also wrapping up their academic activities and taking part in farewell dos before preparing for their final exams in the coming months.
