Tarush, Aakash shine in debate competition

The first runner-up trophy was awarded to Rimili Das and Navtika Lipi from Carmel School-Dhanbad. Tarush was also adjudged the best speaker.

The winners will qualify for the next round to be held on August 16.

Toppers feted: State education minister Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma felicitated Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations’ state toppers Ritik Raj (Class X) and Aryendra Singh (Class XII) at Pratibha Samman Samaroh organized by Private Schools and Children Welfare Association at the S K Memorial Hall on Wednesday.

The toppers received Rs 11,000 each. While Ritik scored 98.6%, Aryendra got 97.2% in their respective exams. They are both Don Bosco Academy students. At least 3,000 students of classes X and XII participated in the event.

Girls felicitated: Notre Dame Academy (NDA) students Raisha Kashyap (Class XI) and Shreya Kaushal (Class XII passout) received Sr Jayshree Memorial Award and Amla Thomas Memorial Award, respectively, at a function organized on the school campus on Wednesday. Both Raisha and Shreya were felicitated for their outstanding performance in academics and extra-curricular activities.

While Astha Riya, NDA topper in Class XII board exams (arts stream) was given a memento and a certificate, science topper Hrishita and commerce topper Sanjana Agarwal were also felicitated on the occasion.

School principal Sr Mary Jessy congratulated the students and wished them for a bright future. The school also celebrated St Julie’s feast.

Elocution contest: BSc-II student Jyoti Kumari emerged as the winner of an elocution contest organized by the Eco Task Force of Patna Women’s College on the occasion of World Population Day on Wednesday.

The second and third prizes were bagged by Madhu (BSc-II) and Shalu (BSc-II), respectively. In a poster-making competition, Uzma Nishat (BSc-II) and Ambreen (BSc-III) jointly won the first prize. Shashi Suman (BSc-II) got the second prize while Zeba Anjum (BSc-III) bagged the third prize.

The topic for elocution and poster-making contests was ‘Family Planning is a Human Right’.
