PATNA: A 45-year-old man was on Saturday booked for allegedly killing his 14-year-old daughter over a suspected affair with a youth in a village in Bihar's Munger on Friday night.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Bahal, concealed the girl's body in his house in Mubarakchak village, intending to dispose of it discreetly after midnight, police said. However, police raided Bahal's house on a tip-off and recovered the body, but the accused managed to escape, officials said.
"Initially, the girl's mother tried to mislead the police. But on sustained interrogation, she admitted to witnessing Bahal hitting their daughter on her head with an axe, and killing her on the spot. She said her husband was provoked by their neighbours over an affair," said SHO Shailendra Kumar Singh.
However, she could not name the youth, the SHO added. "We are conducting enquiries and raids to nab Bahal. The victim's mother, who is complainant in the case, is also an eyewitness to the crime," he added.
