Patna: Money for school uniforms and bicycles will be credited to the students’ accounts through direct benefit transfer (DBT) in Sept only, said education minister Sunil Kumar at a ceremony organised by the education department on Friday to commemorate Teachers’ Day. Students normally get the money in Jan or Feb.
During the event, 71 teachers from the state were awarded teachers’ awards with mementos, certificates and Rs 30,000 each by the minister and senior officers present at the event. Among the teachers selected for the awards, three were from Patna district—Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi, Ankita Kumari and Wilfred Henry.
He said computers will soon be provided to all the classes from VI to VIII. He also urged the students to join campaigns like ‘Back to Books’, ‘Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali’ and ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’.
Additional chief secretary B Rajender highlighted the role of a teacher in moulding the lives of students.
On this occasion, students presented a cultural programme.
CM Nitish Kumar also extended wishes to the teachers on this occasion.
