MOTIHARI: Police have recovered three stolen transformers from a private workshop in Chatauni locality of the town. The transformers belong to the Bihar State Electricity Board.
The owners of the workshop Jaglal Sharma and Lakhi Sharma have already been arrested in this connection. The police are now looking for an electrician, Rajnarayan Yadav, whose involvement could not be ruled out in the case.
A police team headed by DSP Shashi Shankar Kumar had conducted the raid on the workshop.
Sikandar Yadav, SDO (electricity) of Sikarahana subdivision, has lodged a case in this regard. As many as nine transformers had been stolen from Bijbani, Samanpur, Jhajhara and Jamuniya villages.
On an inquiry made by SDO Yadav, it was found that electricians had sold off these transformers in a workshop located in the town. Rajnarayan Yadav, the electrician of Kadamawa under Ghorasahan police station, has been made a named accused in the case.
The police have interrogated the accused and received vital information on theft of transformers.
SDO Yadav said that a total of 11 transformers had been stolen from the bordering areas of the East Champaran district. He did not rule out the involvement of board officials in the racket.
