Social welfare minister should quit: Tariq Anwar
PATNA: Nationalist Congress Party general secretary and Katihar MP Tariq Anwar on Saturday asked state social welfare minister Manju Verma to resign on moral grounds in the wake of the alleged rape of 34 minor girls at a government-run shelter home in Muzaffarpur.
Tariq said the state government should probe activities at all the other shelter homes. “The Centre should also order special inspection of shelter homes in all states.

One cannot rule out the possibility of similar crimes happening in other states as well,” Tariq said, adding since the Supreme Court has also taken strong exception to the Muzaffarpur horror, the CBI should conduct the probe sincerely.
Tariq also said his party would launch a signature campaign at the block and district levels in favour of grant of special category status to Bihar.
