Smriti Priyadarshini is overall champion of Patna Women's College sports meet

PATNA: Yoga, aerobics, skipping, races and drills marked a spirited Sports Day on the Patna Women's College (PWC) campus on Saturday. The students put up a spectacular show after over two-month-long practice and the hard work was clearly visible in the coordination of students.
PWC students Shubhra, Namrata, Priya and Swati carried the sports torch across the field, while the other events that were held on the occasion included dumbbells and pom pom exercises, cycle race, relay race and three-legged race, skipping rope and throws etc.

The indoor games events such as carom, chess, badminton and table-tennis had been held earlier.
The overall champion's trophy went to BA second year student Swati, while the runner-up was Smriti Priyadarshini (BA second year). BA third year student Khushboo bagged the indoor champion trophy.
The impeccably dressed young girls exuded confidence and poise as they marched past across the field led by Priyanka, Nishi Kumari, Namrata Mitra and Shikha Mishra. The students of BCom third year, led by Arya and Sonali, were declared the best in the event.
Chief guest on the occasion, Patna University (PU) vice-chancellor (VC) Arun Kumar Sinha took the guard of honour during the march past. He said, "This is the best college for women students in Bihar and the performance of the students was very good." Also present on the occasion were Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) director V Mukund Das and SBI deputy manager Papiya Dilip Gandhi, who appreciated the three-hour-long show put up by the students. PWC principal Sr Doris D'Souza welcomed the guests and said that all students should participate in sporting events.

The college faculty put in their best efforts to prepare the students and the events were coordinated by Manjula Sushila, lecturer, department of Hindi.
In the indoor events, badminton was won by Khushboo (BA III), carom was won by Priya (BCom III), table tennis by Anjali Rani (BA III) and chess by Kritika (BBA II). The best players in different outdoor games were Somya Singh (BA I) in basketball, Jyoti (BCom I) in kho kho, Amrita Singh (BA III) in kabaddi, Ritu Sinha (BA II) in cricket and Khushboo (BA III) for throwball.
In the track events, the 200m race was won by Swati (BA II), 800m by Smriti Priyadarshini (BA II) and 1,500m by Sukriti (BA II). The slow cycle race was won by Tabassum (BCom III).
