Slew of programmes in districts mark Bihar Diwas
Buxar: Bihar Diwas celebrations began across districts on Sunday, with marathons, cultural programmes, sports events and awareness campaigns highlighting the state’s rich heritage and work on development. Officials and public representatives participated in large numbers, encouraging youth’s participation.
In Buxar, a marathon themed “Run for Fit” was organised by the art and culture department and the district administration. DM Sahila inaugurated the event by lighting a ceremonial torch and flagging off the race. She also joined the runners, motivating participants. Senior officials, including DDC Niharika Chhavi, additional collector Arun Kumar Singh and SWEEP youth icon Abhiram Sundar took part in the marathon. Participants were awarded certificates. The DM stressed the importance of physical and mental fitness, while DDC Niharika Chhavi encouraged adopting a healthy lifestyle.
In Sitamarhi, the Bihar Diwas celebrations began on Sunday. Activities such as sanitation drives, rangoli, prabhat pheri, essay and painting competitions, sports events, blood donation camps and cycle rallies have been planned for three days, said district magistrate Richi Pandey. The inaugural function at Dumra field highlighted Bihar’s legacy, with the DM expressing optimism about the state’s development and mentioning plans for a world-class Maa Janki temple at Punaura Dham. MLAs Sunil Kumar Pintu and Baidyanath Prasad also addressed the gathering.
In Ara, celebrations at Veer Kunwar Singh Stadium and Ramna Maidan drew large crowds on Sunday. Organised by the state govt and district administration, the event featured sports competitions and cultural performances. Labour resources minister Sanjay Singh Tiger and DM Tanai Sultania addressed the gathering, emphasising Bihar’s cultural identity and youth potential. Boxing, weightlifting, archery, kabaddi, kho-kho and wushu competitions added vibrancy to the celebration.
The event concluded with distribution of certificates, in the presence of officials including DDC Gunjan Singh, MP Sudama Prasad, MLA Radha Charan Shah and mayor Indu Devi.
