Six win medals at east zone shooting event

Children of poor and marginal farmers from remote villages in Nalanda district bagged six medals including two golds at ‘East Zone Shooting Championship’ held recently held at Khel Gaon, Ranchi.

KALYAN BIGHA (Nalanda): Children of poor and marginal farmers from remote villages in Nalanda district bagged six medals including two golds at ‘East Zone Shooting Championship’ held recently held at Khel Gaon, Ranchi.
Six out of 12 students from ‘Indoor Shooting Range, Kalyan Bigha’, a training school started at the initiative of the then CM Nitish Kumar in 2006, won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals in different categories of 10 metre air pistol events.

In-charge of Indoor Shooting Range, Kalyan Bigha, Umesh Prasad said 12 students from his school participated in the 7th East Zone Shooting Championship held at Khel Gaon, Ranchi, between September 18-24 and 6 of them won medals. He added that 2,000 shooters from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odhisa and West Bengal participated in the championship.
Juli Kumari, daughter of Brind Singh of village Chainpur under Chandi block, and Shiv Ganga, son of Brijnandan Prasad, a native of village Araut under the same block, won gold medals in sub-junior category while Anupam Kumar and Raju Kumar Singh bagged silver in junior and sub-junior categories respectively. Uttam Kumar and Jitrohan Kumar grabbed bronze medals. At present 30 students including 6 girls are undergoing training at the school.
