SI found dead in Vaishali

Patna: A police sub-inspector was found dead with a gunshot wound in his rented room at Bankman Colony under the Town police station area of Vaishali district on Monday evening. The deceased was identified as Kaushal Kumar (30), a 2019-batch officer, who had taken charge as in-charge of Jadhua police outpost just 15 days ago. He was a native of Khagaria district.

Senior officials, including SP Vikram Sihag and SDPO Subodh Kumar, reached the spot, and a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team collected samples from the scene.

According to SP, the SI locked the room from inside and shot himself with his service pistol, resulting in his death on the spot. “Preliminary investigation suggests the SI was under mental stress due to personal and family reasons. Further probe is underway, including technical analysis of his phone call records,” he said.

Kumar was transferred from Bidupur police station and was handed charge of Jadhua OP in February, considering his work efficiency. Further investigation is in progress.
