Shwet, Pragati win Montfort TT titles

: Shwet Raj and Pragati Goswami from DAV Public School (BSEB Colony) clinched the senior boys and girls singles titles respectively in the 17th Brother John de Montfort memorial

table tennis

tournament organized by Loyola High School on Sunday.

Mohit Kumar of DAV (BSEB Colony) and Vedanti Kiran from St Michael’s High School finished runners-up in the senior boys and girls category. In the junior section, Saikat Das of St Michael’s High School and Chavi Palak from Notre Dame Academy won the boys and girls singles respectively. Saikat defeated Mohit Jha of Loyola High School and Chavi won the final against Shreya Bharti of DAV (BSEB Colony). Rohit Lakra and Rashmi Rathi of the host team were adjudged the most promising players of the tournament.

The winners were felicitated by Praveen Kumar, a telecom company official, and Bihar Table Tennis Association (BTTA) representatives Dilip Kumar Gandhi, Papiya Gandhi and Mukesh Roy.

MoU between PU and TISS: Patna University (PU) on Sunday reached an understanding with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) of Mumbai to promote teaching and research in different branches of social science. . The MoU has been initially signed for five years for collaborative studies on the problems of rivers, cities and migration of people. The PU postgraduate departments of history, geography and English will be the key partners in promoting meaningful research and studies in the chosen areas. The studies would not only improve the quality of research in social sciences but also go a long way in mitigating the sufferings of people through the much-needed academic intervention.

PU vice-chancellor thanked the Patna chapter of TISS and said more such collaborative studies with other premier institutions in science and humanities would be undertaken by PU in near future.
