Syed Shahnawaz Hussain acquitted in code violation case

PATNA: A special MP/MLA court at Bhagalpur on Monday acquitted BJP’s national spokesperson and former minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain in a 14-year-old model code violation case, which was instituted against him and three others during the 2009 general elections.

The special court of ACJM-1, Bhagalpur, also acquitted the BJP MLA from Bihpur constituency, Shailendra Kumar, Mantu Kumar Modi and Vyas Mishra.

Shahnawaz, along with the three others, was booked for allegedly violating model poll code on March 15, 2009. The block development officer of Bihpur had lodged an FIR on the accusations that the picture and posters of Shanawaz and Shailendra were allegedly found at a betel shop being run by third accused Mantu Kumar Modi, a person with disability.
