Ara: A team of Bhojpur police led by ASP (operations) Md Sazid and DSP (probation) Reshu Krishna raided a restaurant in Karman Tola locality of the town and arrested 16 boys and 15 girls in the age group of 14-22 years after they were found in objectionable condition.
The police also arrested one of the owners and two employees of the restaurant besides recovering several objectionable items.
Police had to resort to lathicharge to disperse the mob that had assembled near the restaurant in course of the raid.
Bhojpur SP Naveen Chandra Jha said acting on a tip-off that unlawful activities were going on at Heaven Family Restaurant, a police team was sent there to conduct the raid. “A number of young girls and boys used to visit the restaurant regularly,” the SP said.
The arrested owner of the restaurant has been identified as Jitendra Kumar Singh. Two employees of the restaurant -- Rudal Kumar and Rahul Kumar -- were also arrested. Two liquor bottles, condoms, gutka packets, lighters and Rs 4,500 in cash were recovered from the restaurant.
The SP said arrested boys would be booked under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act while the girls would be handed over to the child welfare committee and Mahila Helpline. The girls would be later handed over to their parents, if they come.
