Security beefed up for Holi and Ramzan in Bihar
Patna: Bihar Police has stepped up preparations to ensure peaceful Holi and Ramzan celebrations across the state. The police headquarters (PHQ) on Saturday issued strict guidelines to all districts, emphasising vigilance and proactive measures to maintain law and order.
Holi will be celebrated on March 3 and 4 while Ramzan began on Feb 19. Peace committee meetings are being organised at police station and district levels to address potential disputes in advance.
According to PHQ, “The total additional forces deployed in various districts include 35 companies from Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP), 12 companies from range reserve, and three companies from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Also, 18,822 newly recruited trainee constables, 2,768 trainee assistant sub-inspectors, and 5,100 home guards were deployed to ensure security and maintain law and order during the festivals.”
Sensitive and mixed population areas will receive special attention. Preventive action under Section 126 BNSS will be taken where required.
Social media will be monitored round the clock, and those spreading rumours or inflammatory content will face legal action.
Riot control teams equipped with helmets, body protectors and tear gas will remain on standby. Additional deployment will be made at major railway stations.
Restrictions have been imposed on DJ music and obscene songs during Holi. Violators will face FIRs and seizure of equipment.
The order further stated, “District control rooms will review situations every 2 hours, and important incidents will be promptly reported to senior officers and the police headquarters. Communication plans with key officials' contact details will be prepared for any untoward incident.”
Special vigilance is also being maintained against drugging gangs on trains and platforms. PHQ appealed to the public to maintain communal harmony.
