Bettiah: A 40-year-old govt school teacher of Uttar Pradesh died after his motorcycle lost control and hit a tree near Dhobha bridge in Valmiki Nagar police station area of West Champaran district on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Aftab Alam, a resident of Khadda area in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. He was posted at Kailashpur Thadhi Government Middle School in Valmiki Nagar.
According to family members, Alam left home around 5am on his motorcycle to go to the school. They received information around 8am that Aftab died in an accident near Dhobha bridge and rushed to Bagaha sub-divisional hospital.
SHO, Valmiki Nagar, Manoj Kumar said police were alerted about the accident by a passerby. He said the body was sent to the Bagaha sub-divisional hospital for autopsy. He said the cause of the accident is being investigated. After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family.
School headmaster Suresh Gupta said Alam was a capable and a kind-hearted person. He said, “His death is an irreparable loss to the school’s family.” The school observed a two-minute silence to pay tribute to the departed soul.
