With most of the prestigious schools having declared steep cut-off marks for admission, the battle for securing seats at these institutions is tough and students will get shortlisted based on the percentage they acquired in class X, eligibility test and even interviews or counselling.

Some schools will give preference to their own students and grant direct admissions to those who scored good marks.

For admission at St Michael’s High School, the cut-off marks for science stream is 90% overall and 90% each in mathematics and science subjects. All those who want to take admission in commerce should have secured at least 80% overall average and 80% in mathematics, while the cut-off for arts stream is 80% overall average.

School principal A Christu Savarirajan SJ said application form is available on the school website. “Students can download it and fill the form as per the instructions given in the notification. Form will be accepted only till 1 pm on May 16.,” he said.

The cut-off marks for CBSE students is 85% in each subject- math, science and English - for science stream, whereas it is 80% each in the same subjects for ICSE, state board and Loyalites. Students seeking admission to commerce and arts streams require 75% each in social studies, math and English for ICSE and state board, and 80% for CBSE students, and 80% for Loyalites in commerce and 70% in arts.

At Notre Dame Academy, admission is totally based on class X marks and performance in entrance test.
