Saran signs off year with hooch tragedy

Chhapra: The year 2022 in Saran district would be known for the hooch tragedy. It started with the northern side of the district (Maker, Marhoura, Amnour blocks) and ended in December with large number of deaths from spurious liquor in Mashrak, Isuapur, Amnour, Marhoura blocks. Although the residents of the district had little to comment on the prevailing war between Russia and Ukraine, but they had been anxious for the return of their wards from Ukraine where they had been pursuing MBBS course.This year will also be long remembered for sex change when a girl named Rinki (name changed) of Marhoura area had been converted to Rudraksha after surgery. But the 2nd entry gate on the northern side of Chapra Junction, completion of NH- 19 between Chhapra and Sonepur, double decker flyover remained a dream.People welcomed the Harihar Kshetra Sonepur fair organised after a gap of 2 years. However, the absence of elephants and other animals disappointed the visitors. Chief minister Nitish Kumar’s announcement of a pontoon bridge over river Saryu was welcomed by the residents.
