Saran ramps up fight against kala-azar

Chhapra: Health department has mobilised Asha workers, rural doctors, local medicine dealers, former patients and panchayat representatives to identify kala-azar patients. District vector borne disease officer, Dr Dilip Kumar Singh, on Friday asked medical officers to help identify kala-azar patients to eliminate the disease. "If our key informers are properly trained, they would keep an eye on the community to identify the infected people," said Dr Singh, adding the patients should be immediately sent to the health centres.
