Saran ANM death case: Family alleges gang-rape and murder
Patna: The family of an auxiliary nurse midwife, who was found dead on railway tracks in Saran district on Dec 26, has alleged that she was gang-raped and murdered by the owner of a private nursing home and staff members where she was employed. They claimed that her body was dumped on the tracks to cover up the crime. Police initially registered an unnatural death case but ordered a re-autopsy after receiving a formal complaint from the family, cops said on Sunday.
Police said the ANM’s father alleged that the nursing home owner and two staff members raped and killed his daughter before disposing of her body on the railway tracks. The body was recovered from the Bhagwan Bazar police station area.
The victim’s father said, “We last spoke to our daughter at 5pm on Dec 25. She told us that she had to perform duty till 9pm and again had to work from 9am on Dec 26 morning. But her cellphone was found switched off on Dec 26 morning.”
Police said about an hour later, the father received a call from the nursing home operator, who informed him that she had not reported for duty and that her mobile phone was unreachable.
GRP station in-charge Shahid Anwar Ansari said, “After the body was found in an unknown condition on the railway track, a UD case was registered. After this, when the body was identified, an application was received from the family members on Dec 27, in which the nursing home operator doctor and his associates have been accused of murder after rape. A second post-mortem has been conducted on the application of the family. Further investigation will be conducted on the basis of the complaint and autopsy report.”
