Patna: State BJP president
Samrat Choudhary on Sunday launched blistering attacks on Congress leader
Rahul Gandhi for refusing to make CM
Nitish Kumar the PM candidate of the opposition camp. Nitish, on his part, has repeatedly ruled himself out from the PM race, saying his only interest is to unite the scattered opposition.
Talking to media persons, Choudhary said
Rahul didn’t confirm his visit to Patna for the proposed meeting of the opposition until the JD(U) announced that Nitish was not a PM candidate.
“Jab tak Rahul Gandhi ne yah nahin suna ki Nitish Kumar Pradhan Mantri ke ummidwar nahin hain, tab tak wo
Bihar aane ke liye sahmati nahin diye,” Choudhary told newsmen.
He alleged that Nitish had quit the NDA only after being assured by his allies that he would be projected as a PM candidate. “Can’t Nitish even dream of becoming the PM? The people of the state are very distressed to know about that,” the BJP chief said, charging him with sitting in the lap of Congress which, he alleged, “murdered democracy”.
Curiously, Nitish always claimed he was not in the race for the PM. His own party JD(U), too, clarified last week that Nitish was not a PM candidate and even rebuffed those making “Nitish for PM” sloganssas it would only adversely impact the opposition unity bid.
