PATNA: Three days before the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state, chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar on Tuesday wrote to the people of Bihar, recounting the ‘exemplary’ work he had done since 2005 to change the face of Bihar. “I sacrificed everything to reconstruct Bihar,” the CM wrote in his “emotional” letter.

Incidentally, Kumar’s JD(U) has fielded its candidates in all the five Lok Sabha seats going to polls in the second phase – Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Bhagalpur and Banka.

In his written appeal to the voters, the CM sought support for the candidates of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the elections. “The condition of Bihar was pitiable and worse when I took over as CM in 2005. The state’s coffers were empty. There was none to talk about roads, electricity, education and healthcare. Corruption, kidnappings, killings, robberies, massacres and mafia raj were order of the day,” the letter read.

The CM recalled how industrialists and traders had started leaving the state due to lawlessness during those days.
