Russian monk caught with liquor in Bodh Gaya

Gaya: A Russian Buddhist monk was arrested by the security personnel in Bodh Gaya on Thursday, when he was caught carrying a small liquor bottle in his bag, while entering world heritage Mahabodhi Mahavihara. Around 10 ml liquor was found in the 100 ml bottle recovered from the bag of the monk.Bodh Gaya DSP Ajay Prasad said, "The monk was arrested and produced in the court on Thursday from where he was forwarded to jail. When the bag of the monk was scanned through baggage scanner before entry to the temple, the liquor bottle was found.”According to sources, the monk was carrying the liquor to offer for ‘tantra sadhana’ under Buddhism. In December last year, an empty liquor bottle was recovered from the bag of a jawan of Bihar Special Armed Police, while three empty bottles were found abandoned on the Mahavihara campus near the barrack of BSAP.
