Rohtas court imposes fine on Ranchi DC
Sasaram: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge-IV, Anil Kumar, in Rohtas on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on the DC of Ranchi for failing to comply with the court’s directions in an execution proceeding.
The court also directed that the fine be deposited along with the compensation amount before the court.
The order was passed after authorities failed to respond to the court’s official letters, reminders and show-cause notices issued earlier in the matter.
The action relates to execution case no. 13/2025 filed by Suraj Sah, a resident of Akorhi Gola in Rohtas district. Earlier, Sah had filed a motor vehicle accident claim case in which the court, in its judgment dated Feb 28, 2025, directed an insurance company in Ranchi to pay approximately Rs8.5 lakh as compensation to the claimant.
However, despite repeated directions from the court, the insurance company failed to comply with the order and did not make the payment. Following the continued non-compliance, the court directed the DC of Ranchi to take necessary action to ensure enforcement of the order.
When the DC also failed to act on the court’s directions and no satisfactory response was received to the communications sent by the court, the judge imposed a penalty of Rs10,000 for non-compliance.
The court further ordered that the compensation amount along with the imposed fine be deposited before it, failing which further legal action will follow. The matter has been listed for the next hearing on March 24.
