PATNA: Maoists have identified eight of their jailed comrades whom they want to be freed in exchange of the four policemen held hostage by them.
While Arju Koda, Rattu Koda, Prem Bhuiyan, Ramesh Tirkey alias Ajay Tirkey and Ram Vilas Tanti alias Guru Tanti are lodged in the Jamui jail, Jay Paswan alias Ashok Paswan is incarcerated in the Banka jail. Bijay Chaurasia is detained in the Gaya jail and Pram Barnwal in the Bhagalpur jail.
Police said Jay Paswan and Ram Vilas Tanti were involved in big attacks on security forces.
Jay, who was in-charge of the Jamui region, had allegedly carried out armed operations against police. On the other hand, Tanti was wanted in at least a dozen cases.
Of the abducted policemen, sub-inspector Abhay Yadav is the officer-in-charge of the Manikpur police station in Lakhisarai district. Rupesh Kumar Sinha is a probationer SI posted in the Kajra police station in Lakhisarai. Jamadar Mohd Abrar Khan and havildar Lucas Tete are from the Bihar Military Police. Rupesh had joined the force a few months ago.
