Railways deploys additional force to tackle Holi rush

Patna: Patna Junction, falling under the Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR), is bracing for a huge rush of passengers during Holi. The railways has deployed additional forces to maintain order and ensure the safety of passengers.

According to Patna railway protection force (RPF) inspector Shankar Ajay Patel, a combined team of RPF, railway protection special force (RPSF) and Bihar military police (BMP) personnel have been deployed to manage the increased footfall and maintain law and order at one of the busiest railway stations in the region.


“The Danapur control room, which oversees operations at Patna Junction, is closely monitoring the situation with heightened surveillance. The station premises will also be making a designated holding area functional from March 5,” Patel said, adding that CCTV cameras have been installed at various points across the station and specialised dog squads and bomb detection teams are conducting thorough checks of the premises. A baggage scanner system has also been installed to inspect passengers' luggage, ensuring that there are no threats or prohibited items.

According to the Danapur railway sources, safety protocols are being followed to avoid chaos. Proper announcements are being made on the station’s public address system, keeping passengers informed about their trains. In a bid to avoid last-minute confusion, authorities have assured that there will be no last-minute platform changes for trains.

Danapur senior divisional commercial manager Abhinav Siddarth said the railways is working in close coordination with the security forces to ensure a hassle-free experience for the passengers. “Our priority is to ensure the safety of everyone,” he said.
