Pvt hosp employee shot dead in city
Patna: A staff member of a private hospital in Patna was shot dead by bike-borne assailants on Friday. The incident took place near a car showroom on NH-30 under the Jakkanpur police station area. The victim was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition but was declared dead by doctors upon arrival.
The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Amit Kumar, who worked in the billing department of a private hospital in the Bypass area. Originally from Vishambharpur village in Bihta, Amit lived near BMP 16 on Khagaul Road in the Phulwarisharif area. His father, Shatrughan Prasad Singh, is a retired railway officer. Amit was the youngest of three brothers, the eldest of whom is also employed with the railways.
City SP (east), K Ramdas, said, "The incident occurred around 1pm. Two assailants on a motorcycle shot and killed Amit. The attackers fired three bullets, hitting him in the chest and near the waist. Bystanders initially took him to a nearby private hospital, but he was not admitted there. He was then taken to another hospital where doctors declared him dead."
Sadar SDPO Abhinav and Jakkanpur SHO Rituraj Kumar Singh visited the spot and initiated an investigation. Police recovered three bullet casings and two live cartridges from the location. "The forensic team has collected samples from the spot. The family has not reported any known enmity or disputes involving Amit so far. We are awaiting a formal complaint to proceed further. The assailants will be nabbed soon," the city SP added.
Amit had been working the 2pm to 10pm shift at the hospital. He was travelling alone on his motorcycle when the attack occurred. He had married just two months ago, on March 7 this year.
